Where Ecology Meets Design
We design and create lush, resilient native gardens that work with nature, not against it.
Combining thoughtful landscape design, ecological principles and a deep knowledge of Australian plants, we create gardens that feel at home in the surrounding landscape, support local wildlife and are beautiful to live amongst, becoming richer, more established and easier to maintain over time.

Not Sure Where to Start?
Gardens can be surprisingly difficult to make decisions about. Which plants should stay? Why are some struggling? What should be planted where? And which changes will make the biggest difference?
Our Garden Assessment & Opportunities Report provides a practical starting point.
We’ll visit your property, assess the existing garden and identify its key challenges, opportunities and potential direction, helping you understand what you have, what’s possible and the most sensible way forward.
About
Our Story
Bowerbird Ecoscapes is a Sydney-based landscape design and gardening business specialising in beautiful, ecologically considered native gardens.
We believe the best gardens work with nature rather than against it. By combining thoughtful design, a deep knowledge of Australian plants and ecological principles, we create layered, resilient landscapes that support wildlife, build healthier soils and become richer and more established over time.
Every garden is different, so our approach begins with understanding the site — its soil, light, existing vegetation, microclimates and, importantly, the people who live there.

Services

Garden Design & Installation
We design and create beautiful, resilient gardens that are shaped by the conditions of the site and the way you want to live with it.
Our work includes Australian native and habitat gardens, edible gardens and food forests, garden transformations, planting design and complete garden installation.
We take an ecological approach to design, working with soil, water, microclimate and plant relationships to create gardens that become richer and more established over time.

Garden Care &
Maintenance
Thoughtful ongoing care for native, ecological and productive gardens.
We provide pruning, plant management, weed control, soil and mulch management, seasonal maintenance and ongoing guidance to help established and newly planted gardens develop successfully over time.
We can also provide resources & information to help landowners successfully take care of their own gardens without the need for back breaking labour.

Ecological Land
Management
For larger properties, bushland edges and landscapes where gardening and ecological restoration overlap.
Drawing on extensive experience in bush regeneration and ecological restoration, we can help manage existing vegetation, restore degraded areas, control environmental weeds and rebuild locally appropriate plant communities.
This could encompass bush regeneration, revegetation, habitat restoration, weed management, bushfire threat mitigation & basic yard/property cleanups.
Philosophy
We believe beautiful gardens emerge when design works with ecology, rather than against it.
Our approach takes inspiration from natural plant communities — creating layered, diverse landscapes where plants are chosen not only for how they look, but for how they interact with each other, the soil, wildlife and the conditions of the site.
By working with these natural processes, we aim to create gardens that feel at home in the Australian landscape: rich in texture and seasonal change, alive with wildlife, and increasingly resilient and easier to care for as they mature.
For us, ecology and beauty aren’t separate ideas. Good ecological design is what allows a garden to truly thrive.

Kat -
Jeremy did a wonderful job taking out old plants and replacing with much nicer ones around our pool area. it was a tricky job needing big roots taken out. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Definitely could not have done as good a job ourselves. Jeremy’s knowledge of native plants is very impressive. And he’s such a nice guy to chat with. I highly recommend him!
